Oliver Hicks is currently undertaking a challenge to become the first person to row solo around the world. He is travelling east along the 50’ South line of latitude which will take him from New Zealand heading east to south of Cape Horn.  From here he will continue his circumnavigation, passing several miles south of the Cape of Good Hope and finally returning to New Zealand two years later. This Expedition will be a world first; it has yet to be successfully completed. The row will be the first to take in the worlds three major oceans in one voyage – the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans. It will be the longest voyage undertaken in a rowing boat.

Oliver is travelling through some of the most dangerous seas on the planet in a bid to complete this unique and ground breaking voyage. As well as the achievement itself, the voyage aims to raise £1 million for charity.  Oliver is also collecting scientific and medical data and highlighting the effects of global warming on our planet, as well as demonstrating what can be achieved using renewable energy sources.

Ollie has chosen Rowtec Ocean Glider Rails, Buggies and seats custom fitted to his boat’s unique design. He will also be taking our solid ash oars.

“When you are taking on such a huge challenge you need equipment you can rely on”.                                                                                                                                                  Oliver Hicks
